Ser un hermano mayor

Tengo tanto suerte tener clients que me deje practicar mi mal español, y que me hagan sentirme comoda. (¡Cometo muchas errores!) Justin es el hermano mayor a Ariadne y es muy orgulloso. Él habla conmigo en a los dos idiomas - que inteligente a solo 5 años de edad.  Por cierto, él ayudará ensenar su hermanita también.  ¡Justin es un hemano maravilloso!

 

 

I am so lucky to have clients that let me practice my bad Spanish, and that make me feel comfortable. (I make a lot of mistakes!) Justin is the big brother to Ariadne and is very proud. He talks to me in both languages - how intelligent for only 5 years old. Certainly, he will help teach  his little sister too. Justin is a wonderful Big Brother!

Nobody puts Baby in the Corner...Except Herself

Rexi is the baby of the family, just like me. I have enjoyed photographing her older siblings over the years, and true to course, Rexi is brilliant for only 2.  But her personality is all her own.  With each sibling, at age 2, their sweet momma has a Tiny Treasure Storyboard of them in the tall brown grass and in the barn doing the same poses.  Each one has worn the same brown jacket and brown pants - except for Rexi.  Rexi opted for her own look of sweater and jeans. She did the poses like the other kids, but THIS one was my favorite, and totally Rexi.

The tall grass grows in the fields behind Hardgrave Photography (between Russellville and Clarksville), and the barn in this photo is part of a set my husband Mark Hardgrave build for photos.

Ice Cream with Sprinkles Please

What do you do when you don't have cake for birthday photos?  You have ice cream with pink and purple sprinkles that Miss Becky keeps on hand!  Which for Kennedy was much better anyway - this girl loves her ice cream.
I had forgot to tell her mom to stop by in Russellville or Clarksville and get her a birthday cake for a cake smash session.  Luckily, Kennedy didn't mind and the cold ice cream felt good on her swollen gums.  I thought she was just precious with her knitted hats and bloomers.

Back to 2004 Memphis

Being a professional photographer, I don't often take the time to enjoy my non client work. Recently, I was going through some old DVDs from a weekend get away to Memphis back in 2004. They were mostly vacation pics of my daughter, husband, and myself. I put them away, never even really paying attention to the street photography images. I was so inspired, 11 years later to give this image some love and time, just for the love of imagery.

Emma's Birth Announcement

When my youngest great niece Emma was born in Russellville, I was not able to be in the country. I was in Guatemala.  When we got back to an area where we could log onto the internet, I could see that she was just precious. I couldn't wait to get home and hold her and photograph her.
I created this birth announcement to show off her little cute reds (Razorback fan by birth) and to show her loving family that welcomed her into this big old world.

Preston's Graduation Invitation

I designed this invitation for Atkins Senior - Preston Stone. He was very involved in business and EAST so the formal wear suited him perfectly. OH- you caught me - this was the first draft, and I put Clarksville instead of Atkins... that is why I send proofs to every senior who I design for. It amazes me how many of the local schools (including Clarksville) actually graduate at the Tucker Coliseum in Russellville.  It is nice to have an indoor place large enough to host all the family and friends, even if it rains.

Spring Green Grassy Feet

As we were driving to Russellville the other day, it was like all of a sudden it was Spring. The grass in the fields seemed to be brown the day before and bright green the next. 
It is funny to me to see how different babies react to the feel of grass on their feet the first time.  Some immediately squish their little toes down into the grass, and others pull their feet up and refuse to put them down again.  All is normal - babies are as different from each other as the blades of grass.
With our Welcome Back Baby program, I photograph a lot of younger siblings - which is such an honor. I love seeing how each baby does things similar to their older siblings, and then seeing the things they do completely different.

When Joe Morgan was born, his parents wanted to pay homage to his Grandfather, who he was named after in his newborn photos. Grandpa Joe was a newspaper man, so we designed this announcement for them to send to family and friends.

Bonnets and Bows - going all formal

There is something timeless about formal Baptism dresses and bonnets. I love when I have an opportunity to photograph a baby like this.   The baby - Faith was a little less impressed than I was and cried that it was hot and had too many layers. After a short walk around the studio, and a look out doors and at Zeba (the resident Fox Terrier), she was ready to take a few pics. I made her the deal that I would be fast, and the perfect dress would be off very soon.  We were done and she was back into her play clothes and ready to go play at the park in Russellville in just a few minutes.
We have clients from all over - but it is handy that the studio is only 15 minutes from either Russellville or Clarksville.


Hay algo precioso acerca un vestido de bautista y un capo de agujeta.  Me encanta cuando tengo una oportunidad fotografiar una bebé como Faith.   Faith no estaba impresionada como yo, y lloró que lo fue calido y tenia demasiado etapas.  Despues de un paseo alrededor el studio y afuera y una visita con la perrita Zeba, Faith estaba lista tomar fotos.  Nos hacemos un trato que yo apuraría, y el vestido perfecto estará en el bolso pronto.  Despues unas pocas fotos, ellas se pone su ropa de jugar y estaba lista ir al parquet en Russelville en unos pocos minutos.

Big Boy - Ready to MOVE

This huge boy - Monte is part mastiff, and is a gentle as a lamb. He was at Needy Paws Animal Shelter and this image was taken as part of a campaign for the transport project. Historically, black dogs in our area are not as likely to be adopted, especially big dogs like Monte. Needy Paws has partnered with other shelters in the northern part of the country that actually have a waiting list of adopters wanting dogs just like Monte, and many of the other wonderful dogs that would likely not get a home if they stayed here in Arkansas.
I am a little jealous of the family that is going to get to call this boy a part of their family! They are so lucky!

Monte also was a perfect gentleman while in the studio (located between Russellville and Clarksville).

Kayak Buddy

Although this image was of Jeannie and Freddy was taken a couple of years ago, I just love it, and it is almost time to float again! Freddy likes to jump in and out of the Kayak, and loves to go everywhere Jeannie and her adventurous sister Chrissy go - no one is leaving him behind!

Wiggle Bottoms - Pet Photography

I am so blessed to still be a part of Needy Paws Animal Shelter in a small way. I served on the Board of Directors for 20 years, and when I left, it was hard to do. But every organization needs new ideas, and new people. I was burned out.
I still do an annual fundraiser for Needy Paws, but that was the limit of my involvement for the past 6 years - until I started photographing a few dogs every now and then for different adoption campaigns and fundraising projects.
This little guy was so excited to see ...well... everything! He was nicknamed Wiggle Bottoms after the 10th time he jumped from his posing box. After several attempts we got this sweet photo. I have several "flying" shots too!  I am sure Wiggle Bottoms is going to make someone the Best Dog Ever!

What do you do with BOYS???

9 years ago today - I got introduced to a world of nephews, by way of Bryer. When I found out that he was going to be a little boy, I was a little nervous. We had not had a boy child in the family for over 20 years. What was I supposed to do with boys? Would I love him the same as the girls? Well it turned out that I adored him just as much as the girls in the family, and was honored to be able to keep him one day a week for a few years. He is so smart, travioso, and sweet also. I love you Bryer! Happy Birthday!

Puppy LOVE

Clair and Tess are best friends, and it doesn't hurt that Clair has a giving heart and will share just about any of her food with Tess.  BUT she expects the same from Tess and really wanted to eat one of the dog cookies during the session!

Thanks Dad

This 3 day old Baby Kathryn, and her Daddy is a soldier. We chose his army jacket for her to snuggle in for photos. I am sure someday she will realize her daddy is a hero to other people besides herself, but for now, he is her and her brothers and sister's hero.

March 11 - a Day to Celebrate

Happy Anniversary to my in - laws, Don and Jane Cochran. After many years of marriage, they are both finally retired. I wish them an awesome adventure and many more years of marriage. By the way, I think this photo was the last time "Santa" was beardless!    

When I was 9, I was sooooo excited - my sister was about to have her first baby. Christina was born on March 11, and I was in love with her. She was truly on of the most beautiful babies I have ever seen, and I have seen A LOT of babies. Now she is all grown up, with beautiful children of her own. Happy Birthday Christina!!

 
 


Then many years later, Mylee made her entrance into this world.  She is my great niece. Quiet, but with a mind of her own - and SMART.
